Thoughts on the Title

Analytical Faith is an oxymoron, like bitter sweet. Analytical approach to anything refers to building up from basic and widely accepted axioms. Faith, on the other hand, asks us to take logical leaps and believe in something even it can’t be analytically established. So why put these two things together? My educational training and now preferred way of understanding a situation is through analytics. I can also be called a rationalist–I act rationally, at least to the extent possible within the limiations of being rational in the face of constant emotional surges that I experience while dealing with everyday situations.
So when I think about the “Big” questions, I tend to think logically and starting from some basic axioms. These are hard to precisely articulate right now but they are few and as a rule I tend to biuld everything up from basics. My current education does not provide answers to these Big questions, that religion or faith provides. Since the questins are important, and the current answers are provided by various faiths or religions, I treat them as hypotheses and then analyze the resulting implications. If I end up with a dead end, I reject the assertion. This path has been satisfying in terms of eliminating many dead ends, but has not yet yielded the answers I seek. I still believe that the answers exist, so I keep the word faith.
